New Era College Art & Design Department is set up on year 2002. In the year 2009, we perform our 5th Graduation Exhibition. Each year, Art & Design graduated students perform the Graduation Exhibition grandly to show their production in three years. We hope that this Graduation Exhibition not only bring up more Art & Design talents for community, but also attract more professionals in Art & Design field so that students can have intercommunion with them. Through this chance, students can improve their ideation and extend their employment chance.
Everyone has his/ her own characteristics. Although our learning environment and teaching material are similar, the creation by each person is very different from the next person’s. “I’m…” represents everyone’s design identity.

“I’m…”is provocative. When one thinks about “Who am I?” one tries to look for an orientation which is flexible and retractable. I’m a bulb, I’m a mannequin, I’m a magic box, I’m a palette… makes for an interesting exhibition.

新纪元学院美术与设计系成立于2002年，至2009年便迎接第五届的毕业典礼，为社会造就了不少美术专才。每一次的毕业生都会举办盛大的毕业作品展以向公众人士展示毕业生们三年来的学习成果。不仅如此，我们希望通过此毕业展，可以吸引美术设计界的专业人士及有关方面的专才前来观赏并建立交流平台，扩展学生们的思考方式与就业机会。我们相信每个人都有各自的特别之处，尽管学习环境和学习教材相近，任何一个人所吸收的和呈现的成果都大不相同。

“I’m… ” 简单易懂，它表现了每一个人的设计个性，是最直接的表达方法。I’m这个主题是具有激励性质的，每个人在思考 “Who am I? ” 时，就会试着寻找自己的定位；这个定位是同时具有方向感, 灵活性和更大的可塑性的。I’m bulb, I’m mannequin, I’m magic box, I’m palette… 概念林林总总，令这次的展览显得更加丰富有趣。

此外，“I’m… ” 中的 “I” 和 “m” 也代表Inspiring Mind, 也就是激发及赋予灵感（providing idea）。在此“激发灵感” 的前提下，每位美术与设计系的学生各尽其能，将灵感化为创意与实际，透过这次“I’m…”的展出将成果呈现在大众眼前。

Visual Communication: I’m a light Bulb

用灯泡来表达视觉传达，是因为灯泡有启发灵感的意思。只要灵感一来，设计就有如灯泡般亮起来。灯泡是世界一大发明，已成为人类生活中不可或缺的东西，就如同视觉传达，它的出现也改变了世界。有灯泡就代表有光，有光的地方就会有视觉，有视觉的地方就存在“美”。灯泡的光照耀了全世界，视觉传达也一样；只要是“美的信息”就会传达给每个人，只要你愿意。

We use a light bulb to represent Visual Communication as it connotes ‘inspiration’. When we are inspired, the light bulb shines. The light bulb is a great invention, it is very important in our life, and can change the world. The light bulb also stands for vision, enabling aesthetic appreciation.

Interior Architecture: I’m a Magic Box

从一个平面无奇的盒子，创造一些惊奇，惊喜，震撼的作品，这是一个非常伟大的创作。Magic box之称说明了千变万化都来自于一个盒子。各个室内建筑都拥有不同风格，不同设计，不同形体，但都是源自于共同的盒子。在他们这一行，没有对或错的设计，只有实不实际。

It is wonderful to design a surprising and intricate creation from a common ‘box’. Different styles, designs, forms and structures are found in Interior Architecture but they are derived from a box. In this field, there is no right or wrong, it only considers whether a design is effective or functionary.

Visual Art: I’m a Palette

也许调色盘对一般人来说没什么大用途，也不算是日常用品，可是，一个小小的调色盘对视觉艺术的人来说，用意可就不小了。在他们的世界里，颜色充满了想象力，探险及创造力。所以，调色盘上的颜色，为他们的生活增添了不少色彩。

A palette does not have much function for everyone; it is not a daily consumer item. But for Visual Art ists, its function and meaning is huge big. In their world, colors feed imagination, exploration and creation. Paint colors on the palette can transform the world around us.

Textile&Fashion: I’m a Mannequin

Mannequin象征了服装设计。无论在何时何地，只要看到它，就一定会联想到服装设计。在我们这一行，除了要懂得如何设计，还需要非常了解如何在性别及体格的差别下设计出一件拥有个人风格的服装。这一切都成了所有服装设计师应有的一门学问。

The mannequin represents fashion design. When we see a mannequin, we think of fashion design. In this field, fashion designers not only need to know about design, they also need to know the nuances of gender and constitution of people to design a costume which has its own distinctive style.
